A DAY OF GRATITUDE
The Okanagan wildfires had a profound effect on so many individuals. However, due to the efforts of so many firefighters, first responders and support workers, the impact on our community was greatly mitigated.
Our OWRGE committee, made up of residents, neighbourhood associations and service clubs, has partnered with local governments to ensure all wildfire responders are appropriately acknowledged for their heroic efforts.
A message from
Fire Chief Jason Brolund
In partnership with the Okanagan Wildfire Responders Gratitude Event Committee, I would like to invite the community to an afternoon of reflection, appreciation, celebration, and recognition for the responders and volunteers who played a crucial role in helping our community during the 2023 wildfire season. The Event Committee has been working hard to ensure the day is full of fun activities, including live music, food and most importantly an opportunity for our community to come together to say thank you. A big THANK YOU to the local neighbourhood associations, services clubs and residents who have come together to host this event.
I hope you can make it and I look forward to seeing you on April 27th! Feel free to explore the OWRGE website to learn more about this event.
Sincerely,
Jason Brolund
West Kelowna Fire Chief

The event will include live music, food, special activities, and a formal gratitude ceremony. To allow sufficient time for our wildfire responders to wrap up their efforts and get some well-deserved rest, the event is planned for Memorial Park in West Kelowna on Saturday, April 27th , 2024.
